Two Local Companies have found just what they were looking for at The Round

February 5, 2013

Portland based ScanlanKemperBard announces two new tenants, Planet Thai and Discogs, to its line up at The Round in Beaverton. Each tenant is locally based and expanding. This is Planet Thai’s second location and Discogs has experienced steady growth since its launch in 2000. The move to The Round is the next logical step for each and both have found just what they were looking for in Beaverton’s premier mixed-use space.

Award winning chef and Planet Thai owner, Kitisak “Ody” Ratanaphupha set his sights on Beaverton to open his second restaurant. “Beaverton is one of the fastest growing cities; I looked at the space and loved this location with its proximity to the Nike Campus, the 24 Hour Fitness center and also the condo residents of the Round.” “It is the perfect location for us,” he added.

Planet Thai has been open since January 18th serving authentic Thai food with a fusion twist and unique presentation. Their address is 12600 SW Crescent Street Beaverton, OR 97005.

Discogs, a user-built music database and marketplace company, will move into its new headquarters on the 5th floor of the Watson Building in The Round this April. Kevin Lewandowski, CEO and Founder, chose his 6,500 square foot space in the Watson building because “it allows us to operate and grow in a cool, hip and creative environment.”

Discogs began in Lewandowski’s apartment in 2000. The former Intel employee moved Discogs out of his apartment in 2007 and now The Round is the next step up for the company. He will have 17 employees by year’s end. “We haven’t seen anything else like this in Beaverton. The location of The Round, the Max line, the area businesses and the creative space made it an easy choice,” stated Lewandowski. “I’m realizing it is important to showcase the personality of our company to our clients and this space will allow us to do this. It is the right space for us, encouraging us to create, collaborate and communicate,” said Lewandowski.

SKB LLC is a Portland investment company leading the redevelopment of the Round. “The Round was meant to be – local, vibrant, green and creative,” states Todd Gooding, President.

Planet Thai and Discogs have found the process of working with SKB to be easy, helpful and smooth. Gooding echoes the positive relationship with the new local companies, “These two companies, Planet Thai and Discogs, complement the diversity of the existing business group while maintaining the community values and they are contributing to the vitality of the area.”

The redevelopment of The Round will begin in March of 2013 when the construction of the parking lot improvements will commence. Other site upgrades include improvements to the South Plaza, in front of City Hall and new landscaping improvements providing the environment always envisioned for the Round.

The Watson building is a five story commercial office building with 120,540 sq. feet. The Crescent-Promenade retail buildings are comprised of 24,447 sq. feet. The Watson building office leasing agents are Jeff Borlaug & Brandon Frank of NAI Norris, Beggs Simpson. Anne Hecht of Cushman Wakefield is the leasing agent for the retail spaces in the Crescent-Promenade buildings.
